Videocon Telecom to Partner with VNOs in Punjab

Videocon Telecom is planning to partner with mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) to monetise unused data spectrum capacity in the state, chief executive Arvind Bali said. “We will use our 4G spectrum sale proceeds to buy 3G airwaves in the 2100 Mhz band for business continuity in Punjab, and we are looking for a mobile VNO partner to monetise excess capacity we may have in the state,” he added.

Videocon’s decision comes a day after the Modi government approved a new category of unified licence for VNOs, which gives smaller telcos more options to monetise unutilised spectrum, besides trading and sharing. Read more
