Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) has launched EXPAN Tseung Kwan O Data Centre at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park in Sai Kung.

The new centre complements SingTel’s existing data centre in Shatin and will cater to the increasing needs from enterprises in the Greater China region.

Goh Boon Huat, Vice President, Business Products at SingTel Group Enterprise said, “The SingTel Tseung Kwan O Data Centre offers enterprises in the Greater China region a secure, world-class co-location data hosting facility. With the commissioning of this new centre, SingTel’s EXPAN data centre footprint will grow to 14 in the Asia Pacific region. SingTel’s customers can leverage our global hosting capabilities and Wide Area Network (WAN) to connect their offices around the world. Together with SingTel’s network of regional data centres, Tseung Kwan O Data Centre enables MNCs to diversify their network and strengthen their geographical presence.”

Designed to fulfill the Uptime Institute Tier 3 certification, the Tseung Kwan O Data Centre is replete with robust data centre features which enable enterprises to achieve high service level availability. These include redundant capacity components, independent power distribution paths for servers and IT equipment.

The Tseung Kwan O Data Centre is supported by SingTel’s extensive fibre and cable networks, which allows customers to enjoy a consistent level of service quality throughout the entire network.

Enterprises can also leverage SingTel’s comprehensive suite of managed services to enable their IT operations such as managed network solutions, unified communications, video solutions, security solutions, and systems integration.

“With SingTel’s one-stop, end-to-end ICT offering, multi-nationals can grow their business in the region more efficiently and productively. This reinforces SingTel’s position as one of the leading next-generation data centre and hosted cloud services providers in the region*,” said Goh.

The launch of the Tseung Kwan O Data Centre is timely as IDC has ranked Hong Kong, along with Singapore and Taiwan, as the top location in Asia Pacific to set up new and outsourced data centres.

According to Frost and Sullivan, Hong Kong’s data centre market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.3 per cent to US$ 802.6 million by 2019.
