Reliance Jio to Invest $6 million on Submarine Cable System

Reliance Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd is planning to spend $6 million to connect to submarine cable system AAE-1, which has a capacity of 177 tbps. The project will help in managing high demand in surrounding areas of the region along with next-generation internet applications.

The cable system has potential to connect 40% of world’s population. It would have greater data carrying capacity than other submarine cable systems that are likely to touch India – Europe India Gateway with Bharti Airtel as its domestic partner, and Gulf Bridge International Cable System of Sifi Technologies.
