Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani’s flagship telecom venture, Reliance Jio Infocomm, has been allotted crucial signalling point (SP) codes by the telecom department for launching national long distance (NLD) and international long distance (ILD) services.
The development takes Reliance Jio a step closer to the launch of its telecom services in the country.
Signalling function enables interchange of information over long distance telecom networks. SP codes are nodes that facilitate actual routing of information between two points. SP codes have been allocated to Jio in Mumbai, Delhi, Karnataka and Kolkata for both ILD and NLD operations, the note showed. Original post at ET Telecom
