Over 2.85 lakh people have signed petitions on a website change.org, urging the country’s telecom regulator not to allow telecom operators to violate the principles of net neutrality.

The petitions urge the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) to bar the telecom operators from introducing differential pricing of data packets used over the internet, which would fall foul of the concept of net neutrality that guarantees consumers equal and non-discriminatory access to all data, apps and services on the Internet.
