ZTE has won the largest share of China Mobile’s second-round LTE infrastructure contracts, with Huawei coming in a close second, according to reports.

ZTE picked up a 34% share of the TD-LTE equipment contracts, Reuters said, citing two industry sources. Huwaei meanwhile won a 31% share.

Western vendors weren’t quite as lucky, with Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent securing 9% of the business, while NSN won 8%, according to the report.

China Mobile has confirmed that these five companies have won contracts in the tender, but has not announced the percentage share of their respective deals.

During China Mobile’s first-round TD-LTE tender, Huawei and ZTE reportedly won around a 25% share of the business each, compared to around 10% for Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent and NSN. If the latest report is accurate, the domestic vendors have picked up an even larger share this time around.

According to the sources, the current tender covers around 100,000 TD-LTE base stations, or 40% of the value of the contracts that China Mobile intends to award this year. Original post at telecomasia
