Google’s USD 50 Smart Phone could blow the lid off the canned mobile data market especially for broadband thirsty India. And yes, it is true – potentially the most bandwidth starved and fastest growing mobile market could be in the eye of a data tsunami. http://fortune.com/2015/08/10/google-android-one-india/ Catch Fortune’s Tom Huddleston, Jr say it all. With the announcement of its next generation global connectivity solution, Gogo, global leader of in-flight connectivity and wireless in-flight digital entertainment solutions, is set to revolutionize the in-flight connectivity industry.
Gogo’s president and CEO, Michael Small, and Gogo’s CTO, Anand Chari, will unveil the new technology at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany on 8th April.
Around 2,000 commercial flights are equipped with Gogo’s in-flight connectivity technology and services.
Meanwhile, the company also announced that its business aviation group, Aircell, has unveiled the ST 4300 – a new in-flight communications system for business aircraft.
The ST 4300 combines voice, narrowband data and cockpit data link services into a single unit. Available with one, two or three Iridium voice/narrowband data channels, plus one dedicated Iridium data channel, the system allows business aircraft operators to configure cabin and flight deck communications based on their specific needs and budgets. It provides global service coverage – on the ground and in the air, at all altitudes and latitudes – including the polar regions.
In the future, the ST 4300 is expected to be eligible for FANS (Future Air Navigation System) certification. FANS technologies allow flight crews and air traffic controllers to exchange safety-sensitive flight information – such as clearances, requests and position reporting – via digital data link.
This capability is becoming mandatory in a growing number of world regions.
“The ST 4300 is a lightweight, modular communications system that can fill a wide range of cabin and cockpit communications needs,” John Wade, Aircell’s Executive Vice President and General Manager said in a statement.
