‘We want to be the facilitator of the next Amazon,’ GCX chief executive says.
Global Cloud Xchange has lofty ambitions to dominate the cloud services enablement space in emerging markets and to that end on Tuesday announced its first European cloud node in London.
Making the announcement at a press event at day one of this year’s Total Telecom Festival, GCX chief executive Bill Barney identified an “emerging market corridor” stretching from Eastern Europe to Japan, via the Middle East, as GCX’s key area of focus.
“It’s our belief we can dominate this space,” Barney said.
The CEO explained that GCX’s goal is to get to the emerging markets ahead of its rivals. He expects emerging markets firms will skip over the legacy LAN services that Western firms are using.
