India’s Department of Telecom has stepped in to fix the call-drop menace – Demands weekly call-drop reports from all MNOs and detailed explanation on what they are doing to fix the issue. It is believed that in past 12 months, call-drops on 2G network is up 100% and on 3G networks is up 65% previous period. Not to mention, the uphill tasks MNOs face in getting spectrum (avg of 5MHz per license) and depleting tower base driven by consumer protest of radiation levels in residential areas.
