Three of its key operator customers, LG Uplus, Optus, and China Mobile were recognized at the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards for strong innovation in the areas of LTE-Advanced, LTE-TDD Carrier Aggregation (CA) and antenna technologies.

Korean operator LG Uplus was recognized for its LTE HetNet and CA deployment with Huawei. In 2013, LG Uplus selected Huawei as its preferred LTE technology partner to build a nation-wide 4G network. For this project, Huawei provided cutting-edge LTE solutions, including the macro eNodeB, small cell for LTE-Advanced network deployment to maximize LTE spectrum efficiency, expand overall network capacity and greatly improve end-user experience. The win follows LG Uplus and Huawei’s joint live demo of the world’s first three-carrier CA for LTE-Advanced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, where peak data rates were shown to reach as high as 450 Mbps.
Australian mobile operator Optus received an award for their 2013 deployment of Carrier Aggregation technology on a live commercial LTE TDD network. CA is an LTE-Advanced technology which combines multiple channels or spectrum bands together – it’s the technological equivalent adding extra lanes to a highway, allowing for higher-speed data traffic. With speeds hitting more than 160 Mb/s, the technology has been rolled out across Optus’ “4G Plus” sites in Melbourne. Huawei provided the equipment as well as CA supporting devices.
