BT has kick-started Cloud Compute service in India to help customers reap the benefits of cloud computing and meet regulatory demands on Wednesday.

BT Cloud Compute helps CIOs build powerful ‘pay as you go’ cloud solutions with high levels of quality, security and service delivered from BT. The service is available in 17 countries across four continents, including Hong Kong, China and Singapore in Asia.

It is currently used by companies spanning many industry sectors. For example, it allows life sciences companies to collaborate globally on crucial research and development projects and improve their speed to market. It is also used by leading international law firms to provide clients with fast access to legal and market know-how across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

By extending Cloud Compute to India, BT will further improve the service for its local customers and help them comply with regulatory requirements by giving them control over where to host sensitive data, BT said in a release.

According to a research conducted by BT, customers using its Cloud Compute make an average saving of 40 per cent against traditional ways of working. By using BT’s advanced Cloud orchestration of infrastructure, network, applications and services, customers can align costs directly to their business needs.

Sudhir Narang, managing director, BT India, said, “India is an important innovation hub for a large number of multinational companies. With this investment we are helping CIOs fully address opportunities on the Indian market, while remaining compliant with regulatory requirements. Cloud is about much more than technology; it’s about the reliable, trusted, assured service we offer. Our customers appreciate in particular BT’s combination of global reach and local presence.”

BT Cloud Compute has been covered in a positive light by the analyst community. Current Analysis have rated BT ‘very strong’ in their latest BT GS Data Centre and Cloud Services Product Assessment report.
