Bharti Airtel’s Africa net loss for the fiscal second quarter widened sharply to $124 million (Rs 753.6 crore) from $46 million (Rs 288.4 crore) a year back, hurt by a fall in voice revenue and increased operating expenditure, weighing on the consolidated financials of the world’s fourth largest carrier.

The company’s Africa revenue rose nearly 2% in the quarter ended September 2014 over last year to $1.14 billion, with the growth limited by currency fluctuations. In rupees, revenue fell 2% on year.

Morgan Stanley expected Africa revenues to grow 2.9% sequentially and 7% on year in dollar terms while EBITDA was expected to remain flat sequentially, building in the Africa tower sale impact. Read more at ET Telecom
