Alcatel-Lucent will expand the deployment of IP core network for China Unicom and China Mobile to meet surging data traffic in China. China Unicom is aiming to ensure its metro networks can meet the surging capacity demands of a growing base of more than 400 million fixed and mobile broadband subscribers into the future.
Adoption of 4G LTE wireless and cloud-based video services, as well as increasing application of the ‘Internet of Things’ will drive unprecedented levels of data traffic over China Mobile’s network in the future – with capacity expected to reach 180 terabits by 2017 and 500 terabits by 2020.
