Airtel Ready With 4G LTE Sites For Gurgaon

Comments Off on Airtel Ready With 4G LTE Sites For Gurgaon 37

Bharti Airtel is understood to have readied the 4G LTE sites in Gurgaon and is all set to announce the service launch in the city anytime soon. This would be Airtel’s first 4G launch in a telecom circle acquired from Qualcomm, which had gained four Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) licenses from the 2010 auctions. The circles were Mumbai, Delhi, Haryana and Kerala.

The Gurgaon launch would strategically position Airtel for a Delhi launch later. Light Reading India has learned from reliable industry sources that Airtel has already deployed 600 macro LTE sites for the rollout.

Airtel has said the Gurgaon 4G would leverage a heterogeneous network (hetnet) comprising the small form-factor pico cells and Wi-Fi points, apart from the stock macro cell sites. The use of a hetnet environment would help Airtel extend the reach and achieve better network coverage while keeping costs lower. It would also help it ramp up the network faster and shorten time to deployment. Original post at Light Reading India
